The Chinese Room has recently provided an intriguing development update for *Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2*, spotlighting the formidable vampire hunters known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB). This secretive faction operates on a shadow budget, devoid of official government support, and pursues their targets—vampires, whom they call "Hollow Ones"—under the guise of "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts."
Leading the IAB's operations in Seattle is Agent Baker, a figure known for her disciplined pragmatism and relentless dedication to eradicating vampires. Dubbed "The Hen" by her loyal subordinates, Baker delves deep into the investigation of strange occurrences and historical data, piecing together the intricate web of the hidden vampire society.
The hunters of the IAB are a well-coordinated force, with robust security measures protecting their base both inside and out. Confronting them alone is a daunting task, given their teamwork, use of spotlights, and constant communication via portable radios. In combat, they wield thermic batons that bypass defensive maneuvers and deploy phosphorous grenades to flush enemies from cover. Their sniper crossbows fire explosive bolts that can cause catastrophic damage if not swiftly removed.
Despite their prowess, the hunters have vulnerabilities. Physically weaker than ghouls and vampires, they can be strategically countered. For instance, players wielding the Fire skill can intercept grenades or bolts in mid-air and hurl them back at their attackers. Additionally, members of the Ventru clan can harness their powers to possess an enemy, turning them against their own team.
*Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2* is set to launch in the first half of 2025, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising an immersive experience filled with strategic depth and thrilling encounters with the IAB.
