Tarkov Update 0.16.0.0: Major Changes Unveiled

Escape from Tarkov has just rolled out a significant update to version 0.16.0.0, and Battlestate Games has shared an extensive changelog detailing all the new features and bug fixes. Alongside this, a fresh trailer for Escape from Tarkov has been released, showcasing the exciting changes.

Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update

Battlestate Games has introduced a new event called Khorovod, which brings special tasks and rewards to the game. This event also features a unique Khorovod mode where players must light a Christmas tree and protect it. This mode is accessible at specific stages across six different locations, adding a festive twist to the gameplay.

A major new feature in this update is the introduction of Prestige mode, designed to keep the game engaging for those who enjoy grinding. Similar to the mechanics in Call of Duty, once players reach level 55, complete specific quests, and gather enough resources, they can opt to reset their character. This reset allows them to retain some equipment and earn rewards that are unaffected by wipes. These rewards include achievements, various cosmetics, and additional tasks. Initially, only two prestige levels are available, but Battlestate Games has promised to add eight more in the future, ensuring long-term engagement for dedicated fans.

Other notable changes in the 0.16.0.0 update include:

  • Switch to the Unity 2022 engine for improved performance and visuals.
  • Introduction of the new Frostbite status effect, which reduces vision and stamina when your character catches a cold. Players can mitigate this by using alcohol, warm sources, and shelters.
  • Winter-themed upgrades and changes throughout the game, enhancing the seasonal atmosphere.
  • A rework of the Customs map, featuring new textures, objects, and points of interest.
  • Addition of seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher, expanding the arsenal available to players.
  • Introduction of hidden exfils, which allow players to leave the raid but require special items to locate.
  • A new quest chain called BTR Driver, adding more depth to the game's narrative.
  • Customization options for the Hideout, allowing players to personalize their space.
  • A new feature for continuous healing, along with recoil balancing and changes to visuals.
  • Numerous balance changes and fixes to enhance gameplay.

With this update, a standard wipe in Escape from Tarkov has occurred. Once the servers go live in a few hours, players will have a plethora of new content to explore and enjoy.
