Stalker 2: Science Quest Guide

While exploring The Zone in *Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl*, players will encounter various NPCs that can lead to engaging side quests, such as the "For Science!" mission. This quest involves Skif meeting up with Yaryk Mongoose, who tasks players with activating a second measuring device atop a Silo. Although it's a relatively short quest, completing it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the facilities of the STC Malachite.

How to Start "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2

To kick off the "For Science!" side quest in *Stalker 2*, players need to meet Yaryk Mongoose at the Central Elevator location within the Chemical Plant region. As you approach, Mongoose will contact Skif via radio, urging him to ascend the building for a meeting.

Upon entering the Central Elevator location, veer left past the conveyor belts and ascend the rusted stairs. Mongoose awaits on the first floor; simply vault the railing and enter the room to initiate a conversation with him.

Mongoose will point out a measuring device near him and mention another device located atop a silo. Since both devices must be activated simultaneously, Skif's task is to activate the second one. Accepting this request will officially start the "For Science!" side mission in *Stalker 2*.

Reaching the Top of the Silo During "For Science!" Side Quest

After concluding the conversation, exit the room and climb the stairs to the building's top. Be prepared to encounter a pack of rodents; dispatch them and proceed to a room with broken windows on both sides. Climb out through any window and descend the ladder on the external walkway.

From there, leap onto the connecting walkway leading to the Silos. Equip your bolt to navigate through the electro anomalies en route to the second measuring device. Continue left atop the silo until you reach and activate the device.

Upon activation, a pack of Bloodsuckers will storm the compound. You can choose to eliminate them or evade them to reach Yaryk Mongoose and address this unexpected threat.

Confront Yaryk Mongoose About the Bloodsucker Pack

When you confront Mongoose, he'll explain the unintended consequences of the experiment. Players face a choice: kill Mongoose for endangering Skif's life or accept the reward and depart. There are no significant repercussions for either decision, so feel free to choose based on your preference. If you decide to take down Mongoose, you can loot the Malachite pass from his body.

However, it's advisable to listen to Mongoose and opt for the non-hostile route. This choice will grant you the Malachite Pass along with some coupons. With the pass in hand, you can now access the STC Malachite base, provided you don't already have entry through one of the main missions.
