The much-anticipated open beta for *Smite 2* is now available for free across multiple platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck. This exciting launch comes with a fresh patch from Titan Forge Games, introducing new gods, game modes, and a wealth of additional content to enhance your gaming experience.
Announced a year ago, *Smite 2* promises to elevate the beloved third-person MOBA experience with the power of Unreal Engine 5. The sequel boasts refined visuals and combat mechanics, alongside a revamped item shop that offers flexibility in item selection, regardless of your chosen god's classification. As in the original *Smite*, players embody gods from diverse cultures, engaging in intense 5v5 battles to siege the enemy team. Following a successful closed alpha phase, *Smite 2* is now open to everyone, inviting players to dive into its enhanced world.
Starting January 14, you can download *Smite 2*'s open beta for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. The latest update introduces Aladdin, a god crafted specifically for *Smite 2*. Aladdin brings unique abilities to the battlefield, such as running along walls and reviving after death with the help of his companion, who grants him three wishes. His ultimate ability lets him use his lamp to capture enemies, forcing them into a thrilling 1v1 showdown.
Joining Aladdin in the *Smite 2* roster are Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth; Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior; Agni, from the Hindu Pantheon; and Ullr, from the Norse Pantheon. In addition to these new gods, the open beta reintroduces the beloved Joust mode, where players clash on a smaller 3v3 map. The Conquest map and the Assault game mode are also part of the open beta experience.
Titan Forge Games’ creative director has stated that *Smite 2* surpasses its predecessor in numerous ways. The developer expressed gratitude for the community's feedback during the closed alpha, which has been instrumental in refining the game. They also teased "ambitious content" slated for release in 2025, promising an even more exciting future for *Smite 2*.
While *Smite 2* is accessible on nearly every major platform, Nintendo Switch users will have to wait. Titan Forge Games cited concerns about the console's performance capabilities. However, they remain open to the possibility of bringing the game to the Switch 2. For now, *Smite* enthusiasts can freely download and immerse themselves in the open beta of this thrilling sequel.
