At the outset of Hollow Era, you start as a Soul Spirit. To transform into a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you must accept the initial quest from the NPC named Hurt Shinigami. She's in desperate need of help, and once you commit to the Shinigami path, there's no going back to play as a Hollow—unless you later choose to become a Visored. If you're set on playing as a Hollow, please refer to our separate guide on Hollow progression.
During the selection between Shinigami and Hollow paths, timing is crucial. Opting for Hollow involves breaking your chain immediately, but choosing Shinigami means the chain will slowly start to break on its own. Every two minutes, a section of the chain breaks, and if you let it fully break, you'll automatically become a Hollow. If that happens, our resurrection moves lists will guide you through your new Hollow journey.
Your initial quest as a Shinigami is to purify 6 Lost Souls, a task fitting for maintaining the balance between life and death. Following this, you'll find another quest from an NPC near Hurt Shinigami, requiring you to deliver a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.
These early quests are perfect for mastering your new powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urakara shop. If you can afford it, use the bus stop for $200 as a teleport/fast travel option, as the map is vast and involves a lot of running. Alternatively, you can buy infinite fast travel from the Robux Shop for 149 Robux.
From there, quests continue, each marked with a red crosshair. You'll progress through defeating one Hollow, then 5 Corrupted Shinigamis, and so on until you reach level 15. There are various types of quests: repeatable, progression, and those linked to paths like Vizard and Airwalk.
To maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu, strategic investment of your skill points is essential. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers powerful Kido abilities, exclusively for Shinigami.
The Kido and Reiatsu Nodes are straightforward: the former boosts your Kido damage, while the latter increases your maximum Reiatsu output. Below are some Kido abilities and their descriptions:
To obtain a Shikai in Hollow Era, you must reach level 15 and visit Urihiro for the Shikai Training quest. Defeating Urahara Kisuke will reward you with 1,700 exp and unlock Shikai powers.
Warning: If your character isn't fully optimized, defeating Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging. Consider grinding up to level 25 or higher before attempting this quest.
Upon unlocking Shikai, a random powerful ability is assigned to your weapon. If you're not satisfied with your new power, you can re-roll it at Urahara Shop for cash.
The game features a Rage Bar that fills when you take or deal damage. When full, press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai, which ends when you deplete your Reiatsu or release the key Y.
Your Shikai Mastery Level increases with the Mastery Points you earn by using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce the Rage spent during active usage and come with different aura effects and character appearances.
Once you commit to the Shinigami path, you can't switch to Hollow—unless you become a Visored. At level 50 or higher, you can pursue the Vizard fighting style at the Vizard’s Warehouse. According to Bleach canon, Vizards are Shinigami who have acquired Hollow powers.
To become a Visored, you'll need the Hogyoku, obtained by defeating the King of Hueco Mundo with a mere 1% drop rate. This is just the beginning of your Visored journey, followed by mastering the Vizard fighting style.
As a Visored, you gain immediate benefits like Mask Control, which reduces the chance of your Hollow taking over, and the Visored node, which extends mask-wearing time and boosts damage output from your new Hollow powers.
At the time of this guide, Bankai is not available in Hollow Era. However, given the game's popularity, it's likely to be added in future updates. No release date has been confirmed yet, so keep an eye out for announcements.
This concludes our Hollow Era Shinigami progression guide. Remember, the game is still in development, so expect bugs and lag. You can use Hollow Era codes to boost your early game experience—take advantage of them!
