Team Ninja has released a significant update (version 1.0.7.0) for Ninja Gaiden Master Collection’s Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, delivering highly anticipated features and improvements based on player feedback. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), this patch introduces New Game+, Photo Mode, and various quality-of-life enhancements.
New Game+ allows players to restart their adventure on any previously completed difficulty level, retaining all acquired weapons and Ninpo. Note that these items will revert to level 1 upon starting a New Game+ playthrough, and difficulty cannot be immediately increased.
A welcome addition is the option to hide the projectile weapon displayed on Ryu Hayabusa's back. This toggle is conveniently located within the Game Settings section of the Options menu.
Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost for some of Ayane's attacks.
Numerous bug fixes are also included, addressing issues related to high-performance PCs, controller vibration inconsistencies, out-of-bounds glitches, progression-blocking bugs, and crashes during extended play sessions. See the full patch notes below for details.
Originally a surprise release during January's Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a reimagining built with Unreal Engine 5, boasts enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved battle mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised the game's graphical improvements over its Sigma 2 predecessor, while noting some adjustments to enemy health and numbers.
