After nearly a decade of operation, Fantasy War Tactics R has announced its End of Service. Yes, the era of its turn-based tactical combat, grid-based movement, and strategic team-building is drawing to a close. It’s certainly disappointing news for those familiar with the game.
Originally launched by Nexon GT in November 2015 under Nexon's publishing, the game was later transferred to Valofe during its second season—a move that drew significant criticism from the community. Many veteran players felt the game's core spirit began to diminish from that point onward.
The servers will officially shut down on July 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM KST. This final phase includes several concluding updates for the game.
All in-app purchases will be disabled starting June 24, 2025, at 08:00 AM KST. However, players can continue to use any remaining premium currency for in-game purchases until the service ends.
For players who purchased the Premium Level Up Package but have not fully claimed its rewards, a final Premium Set Reward will be distributed following the next maintenance period.
A Farewell Event will also be held from June 24 until July 29. The game remains available on the Google Play Store for those wishing to experience it one last time.
Fantasy War Tactics R launched globally across 154 countries, offering a distinctive take on mobile tactical RPGs. It featured 12 expansive regions, 180 dungeons, and a roster of over 50 unique heroes.
Its combat system incorporated directional attacks and a rock-paper-scissors style mechanic. A standout feature was the ability to unlock most heroes through dedicated gene farming, reducing reliance solely on gacha mechanics.
Following the transition to Valofe, the game underwent noticeable changes. Balance updates became less consistent, content releases slowed, and communication with the player community largely ceased.
Given these circumstances, the End of Service announcement feels like an inevitable conclusion. We invite you to share your memories and thoughts on the game in the comments below.
