Holding On To Marvel’s Wolverine Updates

Insomniac Games has outlined their roadmap for the future, but they've remained tight-lipped about any new developments concerning their highly anticipated game, Marvel’s Wolverine. In a recent interview with Variety, Insomniac Co-Head Chad Dezern emphasized that while the studio is embarking on "great projects with a really ambitious roadmap," they are committed to their existing projects. However, Dezern was not ready to disclose any specifics about upcoming releases, including whether Marvel's Wolverine would see a 2025 launch.

"As much as we have pent-up excitement, we've got to hold on to it," Dezern stated, reflecting the studio's cautious approach to sharing updates.

Marvel’s Wolverine First Announced in 2021

Marvel’s Wolverine was first unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase in 2021. Insomniac introduced the game with a cinematic teaser trailer and confirmed its development for the PlayStation 5.

In a 2023 interview with the YouTuber group Kinda Funny, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine shares the same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man, both situated in the "1048" universe. Fans had hoped for a crossover event or shared teasers following their joint announcement at the PlayStation Showcase 2021. However, the only connection so far has been a Wolverine-themed suit named "The Best There Is" available for Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

In December 2023, Insomniac Games suffered a targeted ransomware attack, which briefly exposed Marvel’s Wolverine’s development assets and gameplay showcase to the public.

Insomniac Games Current Projects

Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be released on PC on January 30, 2025, as announced during New York Comic-Con 2025. The studio has also clarified that there will be "no additional story content planned for Marvel's Spider-Man 2." However, the PC version will come packed with all updates released since its PS5 launch, including new suits, New Game+, and more. The PC release will be available in two editions: Standard and Digital Deluxe, with the latter offering exclusive suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
