Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique playstyles. This guide details how to unlock new Breakers and provides an overview of their abilities. Note that this guide reflects the early access version; additional characters and mechanics may be added in the future.

How to Unlock New Characters

To unlock new characters, you'll need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). Access Crown arenas using Prisms, found by following the golden diamond icon on the map. After defeating a boss, return to the Cursed Outpost's teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock, spending your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the process for future characters may differ.

All Characters and Their SyComs

Each character starts with a SyCom, determining base stats and core perks, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Vermillion

• Default SyCom: Gunslinger: Favors ranged combat; critical hits guarantee a subsequent critical hit.
• Unlockable SyCom: Tank: Rewards perfect parries with increased armor; boasts superior defensive and melee stats.

Lapis

• Default SyCom: Lightweaver: Boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
• Unlockable SyCom: Warrior: Increases core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro

• Default SyCom: Astrologer: Accelerates Blade skill charge while firing.
• Unlockable SyCom: Sniper: Significantly increases critical hit rate. A high-risk, high-reward ranged character.
