EA has introduced microtransactions to its highly anticipated free-to-play Skate revival during its latest alpha test, signaling a step closer to the game's upcoming release date announcement. As reported by Insider Gaming, Full Circle, the game's developer, implemented a virtual currency called San Van Bucks in the ongoing closed alpha test. Players can use real money to purchase these bucks, which can then be spent on cosmetic items, allowing Full Circle to test the microtransaction system and ensure players have a "positive experience when purchasing items from the Skate store."

Full Circle has emphasized the importance of player feedback, stating, "Your feedback will be greatly appreciated in providing a great experience at Early Access launch." This indicates their commitment to refining the game based on community input. It's also worth noting that any progress made during the alpha test, including purchases, will be reset before the game's early access launch. However, any San Van Bucks spent will be converted back and made available again when Skate enters early access.

Skate's early access launch is scheduled for 2025. Originally announced during EA Play in 2020 as being in the "very early" stages of development, Full Circle has since kept the community engaged through closed community playtests and regular updates via their "The Board Room" video series. In 2022, the developer officially named the game 'skate.' and confirmed its release as a free-to-play title across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms.
