Rebellion Developments, renowned for the Sniper Elite series, ventures into new territory with Atomfall, a first-person survival game set in an alternate 1960s England devastated by nuclear war. This departure from their usual third-person action and RTS titles promises a fresh experience for fans.
Initially unveiled at Xbox's Summer Game Fest, Atomfall generated buzz, particularly with its day-one inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. A recent seven-minute gameplay trailer offers a deeper look into the game's world and mechanics.
The trailer establishes a post-apocalyptic setting reminiscent of Fallout and STALKER. Players will explore hazardous environments, including quarantine zones, villages, and research bunkers, scavenging resources to survive encounters with robots and cultists.
Combat will blend melee and ranged options. While the trailer showcased basic weaponry (cricket bat, revolver, shotgun, bolt-action rifle), it highlights weapon upgrades and the potential for a wider arsenal. Crafting plays a significant role, allowing players to create healing items and combat tools like Molotov cocktails and sticky bombs. A metal detector aids in locating hidden supplies and crafting materials. Furthermore, players can unlock skills across four categories: melee, ranged combat, survival, and conditioning, enhancing their capabilities.
Launching March 27th on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC (and available on Xbox Game Pass at launch), Atomfall promises a compelling survival experience. Rebellion plans to release another in-depth video soon, so stay tuned for further updates.
