This month marks the arrival of two Galar-region Pokémon in Pokémon Go for the very first time. Whether you're drawn to charm or combat prowess, there's a tempting and powerful offering for everyone. Applin and its evolutionary line premiere during the Sweet Discoveries event, while Dynamax Entei ignites the competition in a fiery Max Battle Weekend that promises high intensity.
Sweet Discoveries occurs from April 24th to 29th, highlighting the bite-sized Dragon/Grass-type Pokémon, Applin. Catching Applin is just the first step—you'll need 200 Applin Candy plus 20 apples to trigger its evolution. Using a Tart Apple evolves it into Flapple, while a Sweet Apple results in Appletun. Apples can be found as random drops in the wild, particularly near active Mossy Lures, and may even trigger additional Applin encounters.
Wild Pokémon appearing during this event include Bounsweet, Skwovet, and the ever-generous Delibird. Field Research tasks and Eggs provide more opportunities to obtain event-themed Pokémon like Munchlax and Cherubi. You can also acquire Sweet and Tart Apples by completing Timed Research, which offers both free and paid tracks. The paid track grants extra Mossy Lure Modules and additional encounter rewards, including Applin.

Be sure to visit the in-game shop for the Applin-themed Headband and Apron, and watch for PokéStop Showcases featuring event Pokémon. If roaring power appeals more than fruity companions, reserve the weekend of April 26th–27th for the debut of Dynamax Entei. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter a Shiny variant.

Event bonuses include an increased Max Particle inventory cap, shorter walking distances required to collect them, and faster refresh rates for Power Spots. You'll also earn eight times the usual amount of Max Particles from each Power Spot you visit. In preparation, free Timed Research begins on April 21st. Completing it rewards a Dynamax Sobble, a valuable teammate to counter Entei's Fire-type onslaught.
